Wilker Eugene "Buddy" Hassler, 72, of the Big Lick community, passed away June 27, 2008. Funeral services were conducted June 30 from the chapel of Hood Funeral Home, with Bro. Doyle Ashburn officiating. Graveside committal services were held at Big Lick Cemetery.
Mr. Hassler was born May 10, 1936, in Cumberland County, the son of Vestel and Lela M. Tollett Hassler.
He was retired after 41 years from TAP Publishing, working as mail room supervisor and was also a partner in the natural stone sales. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Melvine, TN. He loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving and kind family man who has gone to be with the Lord.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 53 years [wed on 7 May 1955], Frances [Ann Smith] Hassler of Crossville; mother, Lela Hassler of Crossville; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Doris Hassler and Terry and Sharon Hassler, all of Crossville, and Morris and Melinda Hassler of Lenoir City; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Tim Carter of Crossville; brother, George Hassler of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Eddie Branch of Joelton, TN; grandchildren, Jacob, Smanatha, Abby, Sam, Grace, Tori and Matthew Hassler and Rebecca, Cary and Chance Carter; several nieces and nephews; and many, many wonderful friends.
