John E. Slaybaugh
John E. SLAYBAUGH, 60, 1510 Audubon street, died at 12:25 p.m. Friday in the Robert Long hospital at Indianapolis, where he was admitted May 5. He had been in failing health two years.
Born Nov. 13, 1908 in Momence, Ill., he was the son of John and Beatrice HUNTER SLAYBAUGH. He resided most of his life in the Rochestr area. He was married Dec. 24, 1941 in Rochester to Frances STANSBURY, who survives. He was retired from the carpentry business, having been employed by Max HAWORTH of Rochester. He served in the Army in World War II.
Surviving with the wife are two sons, Joe D. [SLAYBAUGH], Wabash, and Richard L. [SLAYBAUGH], with the Army in Vietnam; a grandson, Bret [SLAYBAUGH], of Wabash; three sisters, Mrs. Doris BONNEAU, Mentone; Mrs. Charles (Olive) STANDIFORD, Akron, and Mrs. Howard (Betty) REX, Albion; a brother, Charles [SLAYBAUGH], South Bend, and nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother preceded in death.
Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Foster & Good funeral home with the Rev. C. J. MOWRER officiatig. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Sunday.
