Ora Amelia Smith, 87, died Sept. 1, 2001, at Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City following complications from a recent surgery.

She was born April 13, 1914, to Charles and Carrie Boyd in Lehi, Utah. She was raised and attended school in Bountiful, Utah.
She married Merle Smith in Reno, Nev., on Sept. 29, 1933. They resided at Willow Ranch, Calif., and later relocated to Klamath Falls in 1938.
Mrs. Smith was employed at Kesterson Mill in Klamath Falls for almost 20 years. She was active as a librarian and a counselor of the Relief Society. She was also a dedicated member of the Church of Latter-day Saints and helped construct its Klamath Falls first church in the early 1940's.
She enjoyed making quilts, embroidery, travel, and spending time with her large family.

She is survived by her husband, Merle Smith, of Klamath Falls; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Judy Smith, of Omak, Wash., Richard and Marian Smith, of Portland, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law, Merleyn and Ron Miller, of Klamath Falls, Judy and Del Williamson, of Oregon City, Ore. She also leaves 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
