LAWSON WILLIAMS
Services for Lawson Williams, 85, of Clovis, were held May 16 at the Chapel in Clovis with the Rev. Bob Brown officiating. Burial was in Texico Cemetery.

He died May 13 in Clovis. He was born July 4, 1911, in Lamesa, Texas. He moved to Texico in 1918 and graduated from Texico High in 1929.

He married Leora Purselley on June 21, 1934 in Portales. She preceded him in death Oct. 7, 1979. Then he married Mary Peyton on Nov. 15, 1980. She preceded him in death on Feb. 10, 1992.

He was Texico city clerk in 1934-35. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Texico and a member of Woodmen of the World.

Surviving are a son, Rocky, of Clovis; a brother, Lenorad, of Las Cruces, NM; and 3 sisters, Theda Sharp, of Hereford; Lena Bell, of Clovis, and Bobbie Davis, of Roswell.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeanne, on April 6, 1940, and a brother, Floyd in July 1967.

Casket bearers were Cleo Carpenter, Steve Graham, Pete Davis, Charles Bell, Bill Pringle and J. T. Johnson.
