He was the 6th child of George and Rebecca Ankeny Koch and husband of Jane McCoy Cook. George and Jane had nine children.

"In memory of George Cook, born Oct 28, 1787, Died Aug 19, 1857. Aged 69 yrs, 9 mo and 21 days".
