Maria Vieira, 88, was born on October 2, 1920 in Lajes Terceira Acores. She passed away on September 21, 2009 in Tulare, California. Maria immigrated to this country in 1979 with her husband Jose and her three children to give them a better live. She enjoyed her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joys of her life. Her favorite pass time was knitting and she made quilts for all of her grandchildren before she passed. She was also known for bribing her grandchildren into taking her to the casino. She is survived by her daughter Odette Martins and husband Fernando of Tulare, Daughter-in-law Ilda Viera Fagundes of Tipton, son-in-law Manuel Borges of Crescent City, her sister Genuina Pereira of Lajes Terceira. She is also survived by her grand children: Helio Martins & wife Lucy, Dilia Fields & Husband James, Cesar Vieira & wife Angela, Michael Martins & wife Dunia, Leslie Goncalves & husband Brian all of Tulare, Rick Borges & wife Jennifer, Steve Borges & wife Rosa, Vicki Harrison & husband Lonnie all of Crescent City and 10 great Grandchildren. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 4-8 pm at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home, 151 North H Street, Tulare, CA. Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of the resurrection will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 10:30 am at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 125 Pleasant Ave, Tulare, CA. Burial will be Monday, September 28, 2009 at 11 am at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, 400 Cooper Ave, Crescent City, CA. Arrangements entrusted to Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.
