DISTRESSING CASE OF OS. GIBBS FAMILY

Dr. G. M. Clifton brought in news Sunday of the very distressing condition of the Os Gibbs family, living twelve miles northeast of Norman, stating that the whole family, some ten in number, were down with the influenza and a number of them in very serious condition. Dr. Clifton also stated that on account of the large number of cases of sickness in that community, the neighbors were unable to assist the Gibbs family, and something must be done at once or the whole family would die.
Efforts were made to get the Red Cross local chapter to take up the matter and send nurses to the Gibbs, but there appeared to be so much red tape to be unwound before that organization could get busy that a number of our citizens took matters into their own hands, secured the services of Miss Mary Wilson as nurse and in automobiles went to the Gibbs home to take relief and see what could be done. The party consisted of Jim Harding, Frank Boggs, Claud Pickard, Henry Meyer, Tinie Greeson, MF McFarland, WT Vowell, Clare Edwards, John Wilson, Miss Mary Wilson, Will Dobbs, Mrs. JT Stibbins, Will Warren and Dr. Clifton.
When they got to the Gibbs home they found a most distressing condition of affairs with one boy, Clyde, 17 years old, dead on a cot and another boy, Forest, 13 years, just on the verge of passing away. Every member of the family was sick, and no one to care for them except Mr. Gibbs who was ill but able to get around. Mrs. Gibbs lay on her bed with a seven-months old child by her side and in a deplorable condition. Mrs. Stibbins and Miss Wilson fixed her up as best they could, and wrapped in warm blankets, they were taken into the automobiles and brought to the Tucker Emergency hospital, where they are being given every care possible.
Soon after arriving at the hospital, Forrest, the 13-year old boy, passed away, and the funeral of both the boys will be held this (Monday) afternoon from the Meyer & Meyer undertaking parlors.
