MRS. BARBARA REINHARDT
Mrs. Barbara Reinhardt, mother of G.M. Reinhardt, of this city, died at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. (Emil) Hess, in the town of Nelson last Sunday, Jan 3d, after an illness of two weeks with the grippe.
Mrs. Reinhardt was born in the province of Sachsen-Meiningen, Germany, in the year 1798 and was consequently at the time of her death over 93 years of age.
She came to this country about 25 years ago and has ever since lived with her son-in-law at whose home she died. The deceased was the mother of seven children, four sons and three daughters, all of whom preceded her to the grave with the exception of her oldest daughter who lives in Germany and her youngest son, Gustav M. Reinhardt of this city.
Mrs. Reinhardt was undoubtedly one of the oldest, if not the oldest persons in this county, but physically and mentally she was as strong as most people are when they are thirty years younger. It was no uncommon undertaking for her to walk eight or ten miles and her mental faculties were equally well preserved.
The funeral took place at Nelson yesterday and was attended by a large number of friends. Her life was long, much longer than is usually the lot of man, but in all the many years, she always spent her time in some useful work for herself and family and a life thus spent is a noble life. May her rest be as peaceful as her life was.
Whatever marker there was for Barbara's grave in Deer Creek Cemetery is gone.
