A graveside funeral service will be held in the West Side District Cemetery on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. for longtime Taft resident, Gladys Harris Reed, 83. Rev. Tom White, pastor of the Cuyama Assembly of God Church, will officiate at the service. Mrs. Reed was born in Oklahoma on March 26, 1926 and passed away in Bakersfield on May 11, 2009. She came to Taft in 1950 and attended the Church of God. She loved singing hymns, yard sales, slot machines, fishing and a good game of Aggravation. Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ida Fannon; her husband, Dale Reed and by her great-granddaughter, Tiffany Eveland. She is survived by her sister, Essie Berkey; her children, Betty, Kathy and Daniel Harris; her grandchildren, Jeff Eveland, Angela Knight, Victor Harris, Shawna Sills, Sunshine Harris, Wendie Harris, and Carson Smith; her numerous great-grandchildren and numerous great- great-grandchildren; her many nieces and nephews; and by her dog, Hunter. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so on Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home.
