Lefty was born July 18, 1917 in Elijah MO to parents Ulysses Grant and Melissa Jane Lane. He was raised during his early life in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri. He and his family survived the Great Depression as migrant workers in California.
He joined the Steam-Pipe Fitters Union as a welder in 1939 and worked on power plants, refineries and missile defense sites in most every state west of the Mississippi. He moved his family to Cheyenne in 1958 and decided Wyoming would be home.
He was an avid hunter fisherman and enjoyed spending many hours in the western part of the state pursuing fur and fin. He retired from the union in 1979 and moved to Star Valley to be closer to the area where he loved to spend time.
In more recent years he enjoyed his annual summer trips to spend time with his daughter Linda and her family in Alaska. He enjoyed fishing for sockeye salmon, rainbow and dolly varden trout on the Kenai River. He was known and loved by many both in Wyoming and Alaska.
He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Lane and son Eugene Lane.
He is survived by his daughter Linda Boyden of Anchorage, daughter Marlene Hiatt of Orlando, FL., son Jim Lane of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
