Albert was born on May 10, 1923, in Paris, IL to James and Della Pearl, as one of 13 siblings. Albert worked with his family at the Wetzel railroad station and the family farm. He enlisted in the Army during WWII, fighting in the battle of Normandy, where he received the Bronze Battle star among other awards. After the war he worked at J. Scott Petroleum as a mechanic in Springfield, IL. In 1968 he moved to Fort Myers, FL, working for JMP Solutions until retiring in 2004. He was a member of the North Fort Myers Church of the Nazarene. Albert was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice and his second wife, Grace.
Albert is survived by his brother, Dane "Capt." Branson; his sister-in-law, Marcella Branson; children, Beverly Shafer and John Branson; stepson, Russel Nix; 9 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Albert's family will receive friends at the Harvey-Engelhardt Metz Funeral Home, Fort Myers, FL, with funeral services officiated by the Reverend Dr. Jerry Ford. Entombment will be at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors.
