Geneva Fisher, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the age of 96.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Granbury. Her nephew, the Rev. Truman Abbott, will conduct the service. Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park, Granbury. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Memorials: Hood County Library, 222 N. Travis St., Granbury, Texas 76048.
Geneva was born March 31, 1913, to Emma and AC Abbott of Granbury. She graduated with honors from Tarleton College in Stephenville and was All Tarleton Girl. She taught elementary school in Mambrino. She married Vernon Landers Fisher of Tolar and had a son, Vernon Lane, and a daughter, Judy. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Geneva was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Granbury, where she taught Sunday school. She was the organist for the church for nearly three decades. Many of her friends in Granbury knew her from The Fashion Shop, which she owned and operated for years.
After her husband and daughter passed away, she lived at The Gables (now Quail Park), a senior living facility, and enjoyed playing her organ for the residents there. She was loved by all who knew her.
Survivors: Son, Vernon Fisher and wife, Julie Bozzi; grandsons, Saal Jeremiah Fisher and wife, Jessica, and Joshua Jon Moses Fisher and wife, Kristin, and daughter, Trinity. Anna Allen of Austin is the mother of the grandsons. She had numerous nieces and nephews all devoted to her.
