Judge, Attorney, U.S. Air Force Lieutenant. He graduated from Princeton University with a B.A. in 1950. Shortly after he enrolled in the University of Virginia law school he left to serve for two years in Korea as a lieutenant in the United States Air Force in 1951. He returned to graduate from the law school with the Class of 1955. After graduation he practiced law at several law firms, Southern Railroad and the Federal Communications Commission. In 1969 he was an associate deputy attorney general with the Justice Department when President Nixon appointed him to the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. In 1985 he was appointed to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia by President Reagan. His career with the court ended in 1993 with his death from cancer. His last opinion, Mergentime Corporation v. Washington Metropolitan Area Transportation Authority, was issued from his hospital bed, two days before his death.
