Graveside services for Betty Jo (Denney) Tarrant, 89, of Athens, were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, May 27, at LaRue Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Hustin officiating, under direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home, Athens. Mrs. Tarrant died Thursday, May 24, in Athens. She was born May 10, 1912 in Moody, TX, to the late Jesse and Lilly (Henderson) Denney. Mrs. Tarrant was a member of LaRue Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member for 70 years. She married Jim Leland Tarrant in 1934; he preceeded her in death in 1989. She lived in LaRue before moving to Athens seven years ago. Survivors include sons, Bobby Tarrant of LaRue, and Joe Tarrant of Poyner; seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Joe Paul Tarrant, Cary Tarrant, Don Tarrant, Jeffrey Tarrant, Chad Tarrant, Zachary Tarrant and Jimmy Tarrant.
