He graduated from Frost High School at the age of 16. He draduated from A&M College, 1930 with a BS in Education with English and Math Majors at the age of 20. He was a member of the Air Corps Primary Cadets, US Army.
He taught and coached in Penelope. He became an elementary principal in Malakoff for five years.
When WWII broke out, he joined the Navy. He was Chief Petty Officer and Commanding Officer of an LSM481 and an LCI537 respectively. He toured Europe, Africa, Hawaii, and Japan. The LCI landed a company on Omaha Beach on "D" Day, June 6, 1944 during the Normandy Invasion.
After the war he returned to teaching and coaching in Itasca and then Frost,TX. Always an avid golfer, even during the war when he play St. Andrews in Scotland, he won the Corsicana Golf Tournament in 1938, a highlight.
He received his MA in Educ. Admin. at North Texas State University in Denton in 1947.
He was superintendent in Union Grove living with his wife and two daughters. With the lure of higher salaries, they moved in 1952 to Midland,TX where he was principal of South Elementary and West Elementary. After the divorce, Wallace taught math and coached golf at Midland High School for one year. Moving to Irving High School and then Texas City High School, he continued to do the same. He married and had a son. He retired in 1975. He continued coaching golf at the College of the Mainland. He hit five hole-in-ones and shot his own age in golf at 71. He could fly small engine airplanes. He was kind, gentle, good-hearted, generous, helpful, and never spoke an unkind word of others.
