Josephine married her first husband, William Strang in Coos County, Oregon on 29 Mar 1885. William Strang was born in Finland. They had four children:

Elsie Strang, born 2-20-1888 Coos, Oregon and died 10-24-1949 Seattle, King, Washington. She married Charles Tilton on June 1, 1907 in Spokane Co., WA. They were later divorced. She married Roy Howard Bouk on Jan. 1, 1920. He died April 1, 1954 in Seattle, King Co.,Washington . Elsie died Oct. 24, 1949 in Seattle, King Co.,Washington.

John William Strang, born Jan 2, 1889 in Coos Co., Oregon. He died in a logging accident on March 15, 1917 in Powers, Coos Co.,Oregon.

Jesse (Jack) Strang, born March 9, 1891 in Coos County, Oregon. He married Grace Violet Royer on June 30, 1916. They were later divorced. He died June 21, 1959 in Yamhill Co., Oregon. He had a wife named Catherine at that time. Jesse Strang was born after Josephine’s’ divorce form William Strang and her marriage to Delaney Hatcher on Oct. 1, 1890. He is listed as Jesse Hatcher on the 1900 census.

Annie (Viola B.) Strang, born July 20, 1884 (information taken from death certificate.) Annie first shows up on the 1900 federal census. Her name is not listed on the transcription but the original document has Annie B. written and then crossed off and her brother Jesse’s name and information listed on that line. In all other census reports she goes by Bertha V. or Viola B. She is listed as “Mrs. Anna Scribner of Pontiac, Michigan” in the 1936 obituary of her half-sister Lucy. In the 1920 census she is married to Sydney Scribner and is 28 years old. In the 1930 census she is 43. In the 1940 census she is 54. She died on June 19, 1946 in Pontiac, Oakland Co., Michigan.
