Soon after his birth, his parents moved to Ada, Ohio. Haydn grew up in Ada and graduated from Ada High School and then attended Ohio Northern University. He graduated from ONU in 1927 with a BS degree. Later he returned to college and earned a pharmacy degree in 1932.
Soon after that, he accepted a job with Abbott Laboratories and moved to New Jersey. At first he lived in New Brunswick. He later became a district manager for Abbott.
Haydn served as the national president of the Ohio Northern Alumni Association. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Milltown United Methodist Church.
Haydn died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in Franklin Park, New Jersey
He was married twice but had no children.
