Mrs. Arthur G. Daniels died at her home northeast of Waterloo in Smithfield township at about 4 o'clock Sunday morning, after an illness of about four weeks of cancer. Mrs. Daniels was a well known woman and had a wide circle of friends. She has been in failing health for the past several years, but in her earlier life she was very active in church work, having been a member of the Methodist church of Waterloo for many years. The funeral services were held at the Waterloo Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, and interment took place in the Waterloo cemetery. Rev. H.E. Wright, pastor of the church, conducted the service. Mrs. Daniels was formerly Mary Lucinda Frager, s daughter of of the late Jacob Israel and Lydia (Spangler) Frager. She was born in Williams County, Ohio, Sept. 23, 1857 and came with her parents to DeKalb County in 1875 and settled on a farm in Smithfield township. At the time of her death she was 70 years 9 months and 17 days of age. She received her education in the common schools of the county. On Sept. 25, 1879 she was united in marriage to Arthur G. Daniels. A year later her parents moved to Waterloo where her mother died in 1888 and her father died ten years later, his death occuring on Jan. 19, 1898.
Mr. and Mrs. Daniels settled in Smithfield twonship, where they have been among the stanuch citizens of the township. To this union were born three daughters, Pearle, wife of Walter Frets, of Pittsburg, Pa., Mabel, wife of Leroy Waterman, of Pittsburg, Pa., and Hazel, wife of Russell Wittmer, of Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to the husband and three daughters, five grandchildren survive. Robert Fretz, Ross Waterman, Nell A. Waterman, Arthur L. Wittmer and Virginia Ruth Fretz. One brother, John W. Frager of Morrowville, Kan.,also survives. Mrs. Daniels was an exemplary woman, possessed of a lovable disposition and a very pleasing personality.
