Peder was a weaver and was known for his fine work. He was also a small truck farmer. When some local missionaries visited them, they were soon converted and were baptized. They sold all they had and left Denmark. Arriving in New York, they took a train to St. Louis, Missouri, a steam boat to Florence, Nebraska , and crossed the plains by ox and wagon. They saved the lives of several people during the journey. Upon their arrival in Salt Lake, they were asked to help settle Sanpete County in Moroni, where Peter and Kjersten lived out their lives.
