Letitia Ord Bonbright, 78, a Washington social secretary from the late 1950s to late 1960s and a member of the Chevy Chase Club, died August 30 at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts after a stroke. She had homes in Nantucket, Massachusetts and Washington.

Her business clients included diplomat Joseph C. Grew, President Theodore Roosevelt's daughter, Alice Roosevelt Longworth and Janet Auchincloss, the mother of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

She was born in the Netherlands, where her father, a United States Army Colonel was stationed. She grew up in France and Washington and attended Sweet Briar College.

She lived in Connecticut with her first husband, Edward Elliott Jr. before returning to the Washington area after their divorce. Her second husband, James C.H. Bonbright, whom she married in 1969 died in 1993.

Survivors include two children from her first marriage of Woodside, California and Briarcliff Manor, New York and three granddaughters.
