Civil War: Co. F and H, 14th Ohio Infantry

Charles Frederick Hasty was the son of Charles Hasty (1799, ME-1871, OH) and Electa Goodenough Eaton (1812, VT- 1894, OH). During the Civil War he enlisted as a private at Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio, November 23, 1863, and was mustered into Company F, 14th Ohio Infantry. He later was transferred to Company H. Private Hasty was mustered out at Cleveland, Ohio, July 11, 1865. After the war he married Annette "Nettie" A. Wilson at Sylvania, Lucas County, Ohio, June 13, 1872. He was still living at Sylvania in 1900 (1900 US Census). By 1910 he had established a residence at Pirtleville, Cochise County, Arizona (1910 US Census). Charles returned to Lucas County, Ohio, where he filed for a Civil War veteran's pension June 1, 1913. He received application No. 1,300,572 and certificate No. 1,070,410. He soon returned to Pirtleville, from where he was admitted to the Pacific Branch, National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, at Sawtelle, California, on September 23, 1918. Charles appears as a resident at the Sawtelle home in 1920 (1920 US Census). Charles was survived by his wife Annette, who was residing outside Toleda, Ohio, at the time of his death. Annette filed for a Civil War widow's penison at Toledo July 9, 1921, and received application No. 1,176,595 and certificate No. 924,646.
