He was a graduate of Robert Lee High School. He was the assistant manager at Baker Office Equipment for 28 years before retiring in 1987. He served in the U.S. Army and was sent with forces to occupy Germany following World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Ilsa Bessent of Lubbock; a son Marion "Max" of Dallas; and two grandsons.
