He married Susan lnu. (maiden name may also have been "Brandt") and fathered the children you see linked below. In 1860, he was an agricultural inspector (the 1860 census is a little unclear on the occupation) living with his family in Carlisle, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.

A Civil War veteran of brief and uneventful duration, he served as a private with Co. D, 1st Pennsylvania Emergency Infantry Militia September 5 - 25, 1862, during the crisis that effectively ended with the battle of Antietam, a bloody affair in which George's regiment was not involved.

He died at age 46-5-9.
