MARIENTHAL - Frances M. Kessler, 97, died Jan. 21, 1998, at Parklane Nursing Homo, Scott City.
She was born July 8, 1900, at Westphelia, the daughter of Bernard H. and Mary Pregler Berning. A Marienthal resident since 1916, she was a homemaker. She belonged to St. Mary Catholic Church and the St. Mary Altar Society, both at Marienthal.
On May 20, 1919, she married George Kossler at Marienthal. He died Jan. 5, 1970.
Survivors include: a son, Hilary, Garden City; six daughters, Nettie Paul, Marienthal, Zita Droste, Dodge City, Sister Genevieve Kessler, Wichita, Johanna Biel, Leoti, Julianna Ridder, Whitehall, Mont., and Juanita Dinges, Ness City; a brother, Nick Berning, Marienthal; 21 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, five sisters and three brothers.
Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Mury Catholic Church, Marienthal. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church with Father David Flagor presiding. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Price & Sons Funeral Home, Leoti. Burial will be in St Mary Cemetery, Marienthal. Memorials may be sent to the Leoti EMTs.
