Ernest Paul Basha, Sr., 82, husband of Susan Johnson Basha of Mt. Pleasant, SC, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009. Mr. Basha was born November 15, 1926 in Charleston, SC, son of the late Abraham C. Basha and Marie Thomas Basha. He was co-owner of Basha's Garage, a founding member of the East Cooper Outboard Motor Club and was a member of The Charleston Rifle Club. He was also an avid bowler, gardener, and loved to fish.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Johnson Basha; three sons, Paul Basha of Fort Mill, SC, Don Basha of Southeast Asia, and Mike Basha of Mt. Pleasant, SC; two step-sons, Chris Blackwell of Atlanta, GA and Dean Blackwell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Rose B. Wolfe of Mt. Pleasant, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anna, Luke, Michael, Robert, Joshua, Lauren, Hannah, Matthew, and Stephen Basha, and one step-grandson, Zayne Blackwell.
Mr. Basha was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Basha, as well as four brothers, Carl C. Basha, Abraham J. Basha, Col. Robert T. Basha, and Joseph N. Basha. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Carolina Hospice, 410 Mill Street, Suite 401, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
The relatives and friends of Ernest Basha are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Monday, January 12, 2009 in East Cooper Baptist Church, 361 Egypt Road, Mt. Pleasant at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at Stuhr's Mt. Pleasant Chapel.
