E. M. Holmes Dies.
Edward M. Holmes, the youngest son of the late Calvin H. Holmes, died at his home in Knight's valley last Friday night at about 10 o'clock. The death was very sudden and was due to an attack of pneumonia. He was sick only about a week when death claimed its victim, and he passed away peacefully and calmly.
Mr. Holmes was born in Knight's valley, where he spent nearly all his life, and where he has a host of friends who were pained to learn of his demise. He had a large acquaintance both in Sonoma and Napa counties, and numerous friends throughout this section.
At the time of his death he was aged 37 years, 9 months and 10 days. He was a member of Calistoga lodge, No. 351, A.O.U.W., being a charter member.
Besides a wife and six children, his mother and brother William still survive him.
The funeral was held Monday at 11 a.m., the remains being interred in Evergreen cemetery in Knight's valley. Rev. James Mitchell conducted the funeral services, assisted by Revs. H.C. Tallman and J.C. Colyar.
