Charlotte Emily Lucas, 91, of Keokuk, Iowa died Monday, August 4, 2003 at her home in Keokuk, Iowa.

Charlotte Lucas was born on July 3, 1912 in Keokuk, Iowa. She was the daughter of William Chauncey and Josephine W. Bolton Benner. She married Hugh I Carrick on April 6, 1933. She later married Wilfred Lucas on January 18, 1964. He preceded her in death on January 29, 1966. She graduated from Montrose High School in 1930 and attended Junior college for one year at Centerville, Iowa. She taught school at Ashton, Iowa. She was employed at Peal Frazier Beauty Shop for seven years as a beautician. She was employed for seventeen years at the Lee County Treasurer's Office as First Deputy Treasurer. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the ladies groups at the church. She attended Bible study on Tuesday mornings. She was a former member of King's Daughters, Rebecca Organization, and Business and Professional Women. She was the youngest of six children and the last of her family.

Survivors include a son, David Carrick and his wife, Margaret, of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; three grandchildren, Chauncey Carrick of Sycamore, Illinois, Benjamin Carrick of Omaha, Nebraska, and Emily Carrick of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her parents, both husbands, five brothers, and a sister.

Services were Thursday, August 7, 2003 at DeJong's Funeral Home in Keokuk with Reverend William Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Sandusky Cemetery north of Keokuk.
