Mr. Benjamin Franklin Adkins, 91, and a resident of Bartlesville since 1912, passed away at his home at 2:10 on Friday morning following seven weeks of illness. Funeral services will be held at ten o'clock on Saturday morning in the Memory Chapel of the Moores Funeral residence, Johnstone Avenue at Seventh. Interment will be directed in the White Rose cemetery. Mr. Adkins will lie in state at the residence where his friends may call for their visitation until the service hour. Mr. Adkins was born on March 5, 1858 in Warren county, Iowa where he was reared. He was married to Anna Roselyn Speas in Marshall county, Iowa and they continued to make their home t here until 1894 when they moved to Texas county, Missouri. Following the death of his wife in 1905, he remained there until coming to Bartlesville in 1912. He has engaged in farming and was associated for many years with the Old Lanyon Star Smelting Company here. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. A.P. Hunter and Mrs. D.N. Berry, both of Bartlesville and Mrs. A.J. Winter of Ponca City, one son, O.V. Adkins of Bridgeport, Texas, Four Grandchildren, Z.Z. Hunter of Bartlesville, Keith Winter of Ponca City, Mrs. Henry Ruckman of Lake Charles, Louisiana and Mrs. Drew Davis of Corpus Christie, Texas and two great grandchildren Carolyn Hunter and Rhonda Sue Davis. -Bartlesville Daily Enterprise, March 11, 1949
