Bertha Louise Scheidecker was the daughter of Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Thofern) and Clemens Scheidecker. She was born in Hermann, Gasconade county, MO and died at Ellinwood, Barton county, KS.

Mrs. Bertha Scheidecker Ahrens,92, died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter A. Rugan, south of town, where she had made her home since 1942.
Mrs. Ahrens had been in good health until the day of her death. Twice, in the last ten years, Mrs. Ahrens has fallen, breaking her hip each time, but she recovered each time and had an amazing vitality, clarity of mind, and interest in everything that went on about her. Saturday she ate her noon day meal, as usual. A short time later she complained that her feet were cold and Mrs. Rugan immediately gave her a hot foot bath. Mrs. Ahrens then went to bed and passed away a short time later, peacefully and apparently without suffering.
Bertha Scheidecker was born March 21, 1858 at Herman, Mo., where she spent her entire childhood. In 1877 she was married to Mr. William Ahrens, at Herman.
To that union nine children were born, four sons, who preceded Mrs. Ahrens in death, Edward, John, Will and Sam. Four living daughters survive, Mrs. Minnie Hofmeister of Hoisington, Mrs. Amelia Schridde of Great Bend, Mrs. Emma Fenn of Cunningham and Mrs. Clara Rugan of Ellinwood. She also is survived by 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and a brother and sister, both living in California.
In 1885 Mr. and Mrs. Ahrens purchased a farm northeast of Ellinwood and they moved to it the following year, making it their home until 1914 when they moved to their home in the northwest part of town.
Mrs. Ahrens was a life long member of the Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist Church with The Rev. Graydon H. Pittman officiating. Burial was in the Ellinwood cemetery.--newspaper obit.
