Mrs. Alvera B. Bradshaw, age 99, of La Grange, MO died Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 10:50 p.m. in the Lewis County Nursing Home in Canton, MO.
She was born April 15, 1910 west of La Grange a daughter of Edward and Amelia Miller Bronestine. She married Russell Bradshaw on August 21, 1940 in La Grange. He died May 18, 1980.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in La Grange and had been a member of the Little Queen Rebekah Lodge in La Grange where she was a 50-year member. She had taught school for many years in Illinois and Missouri and had kept in touch with many of them over the years. She was an avid piano player and quilt maker and had made the quilt for the Lord's Acre Sale at church each year.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends including Gary Vaughn who was raised in their home from an early age. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters Mamie Tappe, Leona Kirkham and Janet Smith, two brothers Arthur Bronestine and Edward Bronestine, one niece and several nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in La Grange. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2009 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home in La Grange.

The family suggests memorials be made to the La Grange United Methodist Church or the La Grange Youth Center.

Pallbearers: Meloy Stahl, Gayle Bradshaw, Amos Martin, Roy Shepherd, Benny Pratt and Mike Bronestine.
