She was born February 23, 1919, in Bloomington, Ohio, the daughter of William Tillman and Josie Chaney Rittenhouse.
She worked many years as a floral designer at Hurley's Florist.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a lifelong friend, of Xenia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 49 years, Kent F. Muterspaw, whom she married in 1937, a son, Roger Kent Muterspaw, two sisters, Jeanetta Lovett and Mary Driscoll, five brothers, William Oren Rittenhouse, Robert Rittenhouse, Pearl Rittenhouse, Tony Rittenhouse, and Harold Rittenhouse.
Maebelle also had many devoted friends, close neighbors, and caregivers who helped her in many ways. In return, she volunteered her time to UVS, the Wright B. Flyer Organization, the Tecumseh Elementary School library, and toward caring for family.
She was a birthright Quaker in the Grassy Run Church in Bloomington, and later attended the former Evangelical United Brethren Church and Ferry Church of Christ.
A special thank you is extended to Dr. Richard Byers and the nursing staff of Greene Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2009, at Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, until service time.
Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Xenia.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Greene County Library, 76 E. Market St., Xenia, for the purchase of large print books and books on tape.
