Gregory Conger, Former Resident Of Exline Dies
Gregory Conger, former resident of Exline, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 3, 1946, at the Iowa Soldiers Home at Marshalltown. He was born near Exline, Jan. 24, 1879, the son of John and Rachel Conger, and was 66 years, 1 month and 9 days old at the time of his death. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. M. C. Worley and Mrs. Myrtle Lyons, both of Exline, and one brother, Orlin Conger of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6, at 2 p. m. from the Johnson Funeral Home in Centerville. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Cincinnati.

Elias Gregory Conger, son of, John and Rachel Conger, was born near Exline, Iowa, Jan. 24, 1880, and passed away at the Soldiers Home in Marshalltown, la, March 3, 1946, at the age of 66 years, one month and seven days. Death was due to coronary occlusion.
Mr. Conger had been in ill, health for a number of years, but was at his duties as usual until stricken.
He was apparently in his usual health and ate a hearty dinner Sunday, and passed away at about 2:30 in the afternoon, after a sharp heart attack.
The end was peaceful and without suffering. He had visited his sisters in Exline for two weeks before Christmas and seemed to enjoy it so much.
There were three sisters, three brothers. His father and mother, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
Those left to mourn his passing are his twin sisters, Mrs. Milford Worley and Mrs. Myrtle Lyons of Exline, la., and. Orlan Conger of Eagle Grove, Ia, Mr. Conger had served two enlistments in the U.S. Navy.
Funeral services were held at the Johnson funeral home in Centerville, conducted by Elder Fred Schultz of Albia; also, the Ray C. Walden post of the American Legion assisted with the services. The Kelly sisters of Cincinnati sang two beautiful selections. He was laid to rest in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Cincinnati in the family lot. The family wishes to thank the neighbors and friends and all who helped In any way during their time of sorrow and for the beautiful floral offerings.
