John P. Durham, 78, died unexpectedly Monday at 2:45 p.m. at his home at 101 Herndon Street in Shreveport.

A resident of Shreveport for the past 50 years, Mr. Durham was retired from Durham Builders. He was a native of Atlanta, La., and a member of Parkview Baptist Church and Joppa Masonic Lodge No. 362 of Shreveport.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Beulah P. Durham; two sons, Wayne J. Durham, Sr., and J. Harris Durham; one daughter, Mrs. Eula D. Mitchell; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, all of Shreveport; two brothers, J. W. Durham of Dallas, Texas and H. A. Durham of Leesville; and one sister, Mrs. Joe Smoot of Winnfield.

Services were held Wednesday with burial in Forest Park Cemetery.

The deceased was the brother in law of Mrs. Eula Peavy, Mrs. Walter Allen, and Mrs. W. O. Averett of Winnfield.

Attending the last rites from Winnfield were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Allen, Mrs. W. O. Averett, Mrs. Eula Peavy, and J. W. Allen.
