Alphonsus Andrew McHenry III was a husband, an uncle and a brand-new beaming dad to his newborn son Alphonsus Andrew McHenry IV. My Uncle Andy was the oldest of six kids [my mom was the second oldest] and he was someone that just made everyone felt a bit safer and a little bit stronger for knowing that he was in your corner.

He was in the Navy on the USS Jason and I am named after both him and the ship. [My name is Jason Andrew McHenry.]

In 1980, about a month before his 33rd birthday, he was working alone when a man came in to rob the store that Andy managed. He was made to lay face-down on the floor where he was shot at least twice in the back of his head. It was senseless and horrific and so, very sad and it's still sad just to think of it.

He was a good man and he is missed so much every single day.
