Ron was born March 9, 1934, in Cortland, the son of the Herbert Dale and Beatrice Powers Barber.
Ron was a lifelong resident of Cortland and enjoyed restoring cars and trucks. He was a bee keeper and loved his many animals.
His memberships included the Virgil Methodist Church and the Cortlandville Grange.
Ron is survived by his wife of 24 years, Rosalie Barber of Cortland; his daughters, Terry (David) Flatt of Cortland; Nancy Tryon of Portland, Maine; his stepdaughter, Marcia (Wayne) Ford of Cortland; his son, Keith (Cheryl) Barber of Cortland; his stepson, Todd Crytser of Lynchburg, Va.; his brothers, Bruce (Rita) Barber of Cortland, Russell (Marilyn) Barber of McLean and Dennis (Annette) Barber of Cortland; his half-sister, Faith Phoenix of Cortland; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Velda Bumpus of Fabius; eight grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and many good friends.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his stepmother, Ella Barber.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Wright Beard Funeral Home, 9 Lincoln Ave., Cortland, with Rev. Ina Warren officiating.
Friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. Spring interment will be in Virgil Cemetery.
