MONK, William (Bill) - Of Flint, age 79, died Tuesday, June 27, 1995 at St. Joseph Hospital.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 1995 in Paragould, Arkansas. Burial in Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Missouri.

Those desiring may make contributions to the Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Missouri. Visitation 5 – 9 PM Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.

Mr. Monk was born in Valet, Oklahoma on June 7,1916 and was a resident of Paragould, Arkansas and Flint. He married Juanita Lucille Bishop on February 17,1957. He was a member of Grace United Baptist Church in Paragould, Arkansas and attended First General Baptist Church in Flint. Mr. Monk worked as an electrician at Flint Assembly for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille; son, Billy Gene and wife Paulette of Paragould, Arkansas; daughter-in-law, Vanetta Bishop of Paragould, Arkansas; grandson, James and wife Rebecca Bishop of Flint; granddaughter, Kimberly and husband Michael Mumford of Novi, Michigan; great-grandchildren, James Andrew and Brittany Elyse Bishop; brother-in-law, Herbert Highfill of Paragould, Arkansas; nieces, Mildred and husband Gene Durham of Burton and Maxine Dowdy of Grand Blanc.

He was preceded in death by his stepson, Jimmie Bishop; and grandson, Marc Monk.

Funeral services will be Saturday afternoon at 2 at the Heath Funeral Home Colonial Chapel in Paragould for William "Bill" Monk, 79, of 4401 Cherry Tree Lane, Flint, Mich., who died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint. Rev Royce Schanda will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cardwell Cemetery in Cardwell, Mo.

Monk, who was formerly of Paragould, was an electrician at Flint Assembly for 20 years and was a member of Grace United Baptist Church. He also attended church at First General Baptist Church in Flint and was preceded in death by his stepson, Jimmy Bishop, and one grandson, Marc Monk.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille Monk of Flint; three sisters, Ann Williams and Lorene Gatlin, both of Blytheville, and Arnedia Medlin of Scotts Hill, Tenn.; one son, Billy Monk of Paragould; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 this morning until 9 this evening at the funeral home.
