Arlean Simpson Hooper, 78, passed away peacefully Friday, July 27, 2001 of injuries received in an accidental fall.

She was born March 13, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to James Edward Simpson and Alta Merle Flinders.

Arlean married Dee J. Hooper of Hooper, Utah on June 13, 1946. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Arlean served in several callings in the Hooper second and fifth wards. She attended Weber County Schools, graduating from Weber High School. She was also involved in many community organizations such as the Farm Bureau, the Lions Club and the Hooper Women's Club. Arlean retired from the Weber School District Lunch Program after 32 years of service. She enjoyed world travel, making beautiful porcelain dolls, creating needle works, and many outdoor activities.

Arlean is survived by a daughter, DeeAnn Thompson of Roy; four grandchildren, Kirk Thompson of Denver, CO; Lisa (John) West of Hooper; Trent (Loral) Thompson of Roy; Brett (Holly) Thompson of Roy; and seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Erika, Kylee, and Austin West; Rylee and Dakota Thompson; and Payton Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband Dee J. Hooper and her sisters Virginia Simpson and Elda Bennett.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at the Hooper Fifth Ward, 5000 South 5900 West with Bishop David Call officiating. Friends and family may call on Monday at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 South 1900 West from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Church from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment, Hooper City Cemetery.
