William Abbott was my Great-great-great grandfather. He fought in the Civil War or War of the Rebellion depending on what side you fought on.
He was a Private in the Union Army Co. A 13th Regiment(question about Co. C 13th Regiment) for New Hampshire Volunteer Infantry. Along with him where 3 of his brothers. They all came back from the War.
William Abbott volunteered 30th day of August, 1862 at Wakefield, New Hampshire for three years. William was injured on a Steamer Forney, it sunk on May 6, 1864. He was sent to a hospital at Fortress Monroe, Virginia. From May 1864 to April 1865 he went back and forth to the hospital sick. ( From what I can make out from the pension papers he injured his right eye.) He mustered out June 10, 1865.
