Edna M. Wedemeier, age 84, of Alexandria, Minnesota, died February 17, 1996 at Bethany Home.
Edna Marie was born August 11, 1911 in Garretson, South Dakota, the daughter of Axel and Estella (Roenau) Axelsen. She attended school through the eighth grade. Edna was confirmed at Ester Lutheran Church of Parkers Prairie. She was joined in marriage to Lester Schauer on September 8, 1931. Later in life she married Wilbert Wedemeier on November 6, 1966. Edna worked for many years at the Red Owl grocery store in Alexandria. She also served at the Douglas County Hospital for several years as a volunteer.
Edna was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the Knute Nelson Auxiliary and the Degree of Honor Lodge in Osakis. She was also a member of Calvary Lutheran church.
Edna was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Schauer and her second husband, Wilbert Wedemeier.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Carol Schauer of Denver, Colorado; one step-son and daughter-in-law Robert and Glennys Wedemeier of Sumner, Iowa; one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Florence Axelsen of Minneapolis; one sister and brother-in-law Leona and Elmer Radueg of Eagle Bend; four grandchildren.
A funeral service was held for Edna on February 21, 1996 at the Bethany Home Chapel. rev. Keith Forrester and Rev. Ralph Livdahl officiated. Interment followed in the Kinkead Cemetery in Alexandria. Pallbearers were Don Lundgren, Allard Lundgren, Clinton Anderson, Donald Borchert, Frank Stratton and Charles Rossum.
Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria was in charge of arrangements.
