Bessie Fontella Clark was born 15 December 1907 in Jameston, Bingham, Idaho, to John Terrell Clark (1871-1927) and Mary Ann Fielding (1871-1918). She was the sixth of eight children, three of whom died in infancy and in childhood: Adrian Leon, John Terrell, and Dorothy May. Her older living sisters were Zella, Elma and one brother, Denzle, and her youngest sister was Vera.

Bessie was just 11 years old when her Mother died in the 1918 flu epidemic. Her father died in an auto accident just nine years later. Great love and loyalty to each other carried these siblings through their lives.

Bessie met Harry Lemuel Dial in 1924 and married him the 2nd of December 1925 in Rigby, Jefferson, Idaho. Bessie and Harry lived and worked on various farms near Shelley, Osgood, and Jamestown. They moved to the southern United States for a short time, and then returned to Shelley where he managed a service station until 1941. They then moved to Salt Lake City where he worked for the Kearns Fire Department. They moved to Lander, Wyoming where they lived for 25 years at which time he worked for the Wyoming State Training School. They moved to Pocatello in 1978, where they resided until the death of her husband in 1980. Bessie lived with her daughter Dawna in Pocatello after her husband died. She was visiting her daughter Barbara in Salt Lake City at the time of her death 29 June 1981.

Bessie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. She is survived by her daughters Dawna and Barbara, 11 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harry, a daughter, Echo Beth who died in infancy, and a sister Zella Mary who died in 1979. She is survived by a brother Denzle, and two sisters, Elma and Vera. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Shelley
