W. Tap Webb. 70, of Holland Township, died Friday, Dec. 7, in Eastwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson Borough. He was a biology teacher and a track and football coach for Delaware Valley Regional High School for 35 years, retiring in June 1991. In 1989, the high school honored him by naming the track and football field after him. Born May 3, 1931, in Chester, Pa., he was a son of the late Harmon Webb and Lillian Sanken Webb McKinnon. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riegelsville. He served in the Army during peacetime.
He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and received a degree in physical education and general science from Ursinus College. In the 1960's, he directed the former Riegel Ridge Summer Day Camp for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors, shad fishing, and camping. He and his wife, the former L. Jeanne Fink King, observed their14th wedding anniversary in April.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William B. of Bozman, Mont., and Christopher T. of Billings, Mont.; a daughter, Wendy S. of Albirght. W. Va.; two stepsons, Charles R. King of Alpha and Edward A. King, of Bensalem, Pa.; a step-daughter, Bonnie J. Walter of Raubsville; five grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. His first wife, Barbara, died earlier.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the church, Riegelsville. Call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, 327 Easton Road, Riegelsville, and from 10:30 a.m. to time of services in the church. The family requests memorials to the Lehigh Valley Diabetes Association, 2045 Westgate Drive, Bethlehem, PA 18017, to the Lehigh Valley Hospice, 12th Street, Allentown, PA 18102, or to the church, Riegelsville, PA 18077.
