Raymond M "Ray" Williams, 71, of 1122 Brooke Street, had been blackberrying several times in recent days and his wife assured them they had all the berries they could use but he decided to make one more time Monday. Not long after he started picking on the Andy Ring farm, Mt. Carmel Road, near Orangesburg, he suffered a coronary occlusion and died in the patch.

Cause of death was determined by Coroner Robert G Brothers.

Three other pickers witnessed the mortal seizure. They were Alfred Vice and Edith and Thelma Woodruff.

It was a 7;30 o'clock when the retired carpenter and plumber collapsed and died.

The lifetime Mason Countian was employed, before retirement, by Eddie Taylor, Maysville contractor.

Mr. Williams had a great many friends, and by all of them was admired for the worthy personal qualities he possessed. News of his unexpected death will sadden them.

Mr. Williams married the former Leona Applegate and last September the couple celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary. They had no children but they reared two of Mrs. Williams' nieces, Mrs. Janet Poole, of Maysville, and Mrs. Donald Sweet, of Austin, Texas.
