DARWIN PORTER

Darwin F. Porter, 69, of 413 S. Weston St., Rensselaer, died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday in Jasper County Hospital. He had been in ill health nine days.

Born in Rensselaer on Feb. 10, 1909, he was the son of Rice and Lola E. (Fountain) Porter. He was married to Agnes L. Junglas on April 12, 1960, in Monticello.

A lifetime resident of Rensselaer except for a few years he attended Rensselaer Elementary School and Goodland High School, and was a retired painter, self employed. He served with the National Guard.

Surviving are two [Step]daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Ruth) Studer of Lake Village and Mrs. Leon (June) Davis of Stanton, Tex., his mother, living at Rensselaer Care Center; nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted from Jackson Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev., Richard Riedel officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friend may call at the chapel after 2 p.m. Thursday.
