Hettie Parlee Reed, 85 passed away Sunday July 30, 1967 after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church of Wheeler, Tuesday, August 1, 1967 with Rev. John S. Gales of Oklahoma City officiating and Rev. Dan Hoover of Shamrock assisting.
Burial was in Wheeler Cemetery under the direction of Wright-Denson Funeral home.
Grandsons, Francis Reed, J.R. Black, Dudley Miller, Densel Reed, J.H. Kelly, and Eldon Stone served as pall bearers.
Surviving are two sons: Johnnie and Domer Reed of Wheeler; four daughters: Mrs. Ona Black of Allison, Mrs. Mary Miller of Borger, Mrs. Ruth DeWolf of Wheeler and Mrs. Lola Stone of Muskogee, Okla.; one sister: Mrs. Georgia Schillers of Miles City, Montana; two sister-in-laws: Mrs. Molly Hanks of Wheeler and Mrs. Lee Wells of Elk City, Okla.; 18 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Reed was born Feb. 3, 1882 at Summerville, Texas to Francis Marion and Sarah Angeline Choate and was married to John Ruben Reed on March 23, 1902 in Beckham Co., Okla.
She had lived in Wheeler County since 1922. Mr. and Mrs. Reed had retired from ranching and moved to Wheeler in 1947. She was a member of the Wheeler Nazerene [sic] Church.
Mrs. Reed was preceded in death by her husband in 1959 and by one son Ruben in 1953. Also by 7 sisters and 5 brothers.
