Marchel L. Ailey Sr., 67, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, May 6, 2009.

He was born to the late Michele Paul Ailey and Mary Wilson Ailey in Chattanooga, on July 16, 1941. He retired from Tracy Cook Construction, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and was of the Baptist faith.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rita June Whitehead Ailey Watkins; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Ailey, of Chattanooga; sons and daughters-in-law, Marchel L. (Brenda) Ailey Jr., of Rossville, Michael Paul (Tara) Ailey, of East Ridge, and Timothy Lee Ailey, of East Ridge; and one granddaughter, Alicia Ailey.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James Sprayberry officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4-9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday prior to the service.
