Clarence R. Abbott, 89, route 2, Convoy, O., a retired farmer, died suddenly Sunday at 12:05 p.m. at Van Wert County Hospital, Van Wert, O. He was admitted to the hospital after a fall at his home Aug. 4.

He was a member of Wood Chapel Church. Born in Wells County, near Craigville, on Sept. 3, 1896, he was the son of Nelson and Lucy Bright-Abbott, and was married Jan. 10, 1917, in Craigville, to Anna E. Gahman.

Survivors include the wife; three children, Mrs. Chester (Lois) Fegley, route 2, Ohio City; Mrs. Paul (Esther Jane) Henrye, route 2, Ohio City; Roscoe Abbott, route 2, Convoy; one sister, Miss Frances Abbott, Decatur; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. One son, 1st Lt. Walter Abbott, was killed in action during World War II, and two brothers, Melvin and Clark Abbott, are deceased.

Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio time) at Zwick-Boltz & Jahn Funeral home, Revs. Albert Straley and Rick Miller officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. (Ohio time) Tuesday. Memorials are to Mission Aviation Fellowship.
