Enlisted July 27, 1861 as a private in Co. F, 29th Illinois Infantry; promoted to corporal November 20, 1863; mustered out December 31, 1863; re-enlisted in the same company at Natchez, Mississippi, January 1, 1864; mustered out November 8, 1865, at Texas.

Resident of Soldiers Home in Sawtelle, CA; admitted 1915 ay age 72; widowed; son Dixon Alliston was next of kin; died there of dementia.
