Son of Nathan Tolman and LaRee Scott

Married Beverlee Ann Powell, 20 Jun 1950, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah

Obituary - Our loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, Claudius Reed Tolman 78, passed away quietly of complications from pneumonia January 2, 2004, in West Jordan.

He was born May 26, 1925 in Logan, Utah, To Nathan and Laree Scott Tolman. He graduated from Berkley High School in 1943, where he was an athlete and excelled in track and field. He graduated from the University of California-Berkley and continued his education at Brigham Young University.

He served on a LDS Mission to Australia, where he loved sharing the gospel with all those he came in contact with. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a Platoon Sargent, he was honorably discharged on February 9, 1946.

He married Beverlee Ann Powell, in the Salt Lake Temple, on June 20, 1950. He served in many capacities for the LDS Church.

Dad was truly a beautiful, loving, gentle man, who at times tried to keep his emotions and love hidden, but you always knew you were loved. He was an avid golfer, he shared his love for golf with his two sons who continue to love the game their father taught them. He was a very accomplished golfer that won many golf tournaments, a Club Championship, and made five hole-in-ones, the last coming at the age of 76 at the River Oaks Golf Course in Sandy, Alan wishes he would have shared a couple of those "ACES" with him and will never forget him driving up to the golf course to watch him play and to tell him "why did you hit that shot", just to be close to the game he loved.

He lived life courageously right up until the end, he was a very strong-willed person, who didn't want to be a burden to anyone. Although osteoporosis had ravaged his body he still got up everyday and drove himself to John's Place and sit down with his friends for breakfast. Dad we will miss you!

He worked for 3-M as a Technical Writer in Salt Lake City where he had many friends an co-workers.

He is survived by sons David Scott Tolman(Janet), North Salt Lake; Alan Reed Tolman(Ginger), South Jordan; Pamela Gay (Grov) Beckham, Orem; Natalie Hatch Tolman, Florida; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one sister, Sarah Lou (Ed) Munhollen, Atlanta; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Beverlee Ann Powell Tolman, his daughter Jan Laree Tolman Nourse, brother Nathan Grant Tolman, sister Marjorie "Maggie", and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at 12 noon at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, where family and friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Graveside will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Honeyville Cemetery, 6900 N. 2500 West, Honeyville, UT.
