Helen K. Cook, 84, of Genoa, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, in Genoa.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, in Bloomfield, with burial following in the Bloomfield Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa.

Helen was born in Tallahassee, Fla., on Sept. 10, 1927, to Peter and Katherine (Schumann) Thomsen. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Bloomfield. After graduation from high school in 1946, she was a telephone operator in Tallahassee and later in Bloomfield. On Aug. 22, 1949, Helen was united in marriage to Dale D. Cook in Mission Hill, S.D. To this union, two sons were born. In 1968, the family moved to Platte Center, where she was employed at Becton-Dickinson & Co. Helen was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Genoa.

Helen is survived by grandchildren, Cari (Cris) Stammler, of Kansas City, Mo., Robbin (Joel) Cutsor, of Columbus, Heidi (Brian) Klevemann, of Columbus, and Chris Cook, of Columbus. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Lynn Cook, of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale, in 1985; sons, Randall, in 2004, and Richard, in 2009; two sisters; and five brothers.

The family suggests memorials to Augustana Lutheran Church Building Fund.
