Born in Butler county, Pennsylvania, March 2, 1846, Mr. Bailey moved with his parents, to Iowa when he was a boy. On Oct. 10, 1863, he enlisted in the Union army and was in active service in the Civil war for two years, attached to Company D of the Ninth Iowa Cavalry.
After the war he married Miss Laura Roe at Crawfordsville, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey moved from Iowa to Kansas and then to Missouri, coming to the Mulberry community in 1887. Mrs. Bailey died in 1921.
